Hawks Athletic Club Initiation Hockey

Initiation is for first time hockey players born between 2002-2005. Players must be able to skate and will be taught the basic skills and fundamentals of hockey in a group setting. Full hockey equipment is required and sessions are at the same time each weekend.

The Hawks' Initiation Program stresses fun and progressive skill development to the point where the player will be capable of advancing into a situation and become a contributing member of a team. The program also introduces players to the concept of cooperation, sportsmanship and fitness, and is designed to give each participant a sense of personal achievement.

The objectives of the Hawks Athletic Club's Initiation Program, in tandem with the Canadian Hockey Association, are as follows:

  • To teach grassroots athletes the basic skills required to play the game of hockey.
  • To develop an understanding of basic teamwork through participation in unstructured activities and adapted games.
  • To have fun while enjoying hockey and physical activity.
  • To refine basic motor skills.
  • To introduce the concept of cooperative play and sportsmanship.
  • To provide parents with an opportunity to learn the role of the coach, administrator and the parent in hockey.
  • To encourage self-responsibility.

The cost for Initiation is $99.00*.

*Additionally, all members must work one bingo per registration to a maximum of 2 bingos per family.  Without bingo add $100.00 to your registration fee.

An undated cheque in the amount of $200.00 is also required for Bingo Confirmation.

This includes 20 one-hour sessions held on either a Saturday and/or Sunday during the day at an indoor arena. A year end Jamboree wraps up the season.

We require a photocopy of the player's Alberta Health Care Card and Birth Certificate.

Beginning in 2007 the Federal Government is offering a $500.00 Fitness Credit for each child under the age of 16.
